A small site about one device, resting on one published standard that anybody can go and read.

At a glance

One adjustment inside a shower valve settles a good share of the complaints that bring people here, and that gets said before anything else does. ShowerValve is NXTA Flow’s; it installs nothing, sells no valves, and its scald material is ASSE’s published guidance.

ShowerValve is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and valve work opening a wall is often a permitted alteration — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work, we sell no valves, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call. The maximum water temperature is set by your local code, not by this website.

The scope of this site

ShowerValve is a referral service operated by NXTA Flow. We connect homeowners with independent contractors for shower valve repair and replacement.

It is small because it was supposed to be large and the data did not justify it. The coverage page sets out the town pages we planned, the figure we were going to put on them, and why we abandoned both.

What stands behind it

One document carries the part of this site that states anything, and it is named and linked on every page that uses it:

ASSE International, Adjustment of Automatic Compensating Valves to Prevent Potential Scald Hazards — the three types of automatic compensating valve under ASSE 1016, the definition of a limit stop, the requirement that the installer set it, and the statement that the maximum safe water temperature is mandated by the local code.

Everything else here is mechanism, access and method. None of it asserts a measurement, so none of it needs a citation it could not support.

What this site refuses to state

A temperature for your household. Instructions for adjusting a limit stop. A price. A repair-or-replace verdict. And any claim that a valve makes scalding impossible. Each of those is explained on its own page rather than left as a silence.
